Debrief

Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● What does running do for our bodies? ● How does running lead to good health? ● Where could we play this game during recess?

Prepare students for the next activity.

Animal Stretches

Show How How to Play:

● Spread out the cones evenly in a large circle. Each cone should have one animal card, face down. ● Split students up evenly between each cone. ● On your “Go Word”, students will flip over their card and review the stretch. Once they understand the pose, they will hold it for 5-10 seconds. ● After the 10 seconds are up, call out “Rotate!” to have students move to the cone next to them. Students will rotate through all the stretches and end with the one they started. ● If there is extra time, allow them to choose a pose to practice on their own.

Practice andPlay

Review each Animal Stretch before students go to their cones. ● This can be done in Home Base. ● Explicitly say what the pose is for (flexibility, balance, strength)

Debrief

Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● Which poses challenged you most? ○ Balance vs. strength vs. flexibility WrapUp

Review Review I can… statements

Final Debrief: ● Why is it important to work on our flexibility? ● What other activities help us improve our cardio? ● What will you play during recess?
