Apr. 21 - May 29 21 Lessons 28days
Content Standards: Standard K.G.1 Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and describe the relative positions of these objects using terms such as above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to. Standard K.G.2 Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size. Standard K.G.3 Identify shapes as two-dimensional ("fat") or three-dimensional ("solid").
End of Unit Competency
By the end of Topic 12, students will be able to explain how two- and three-dimensional shapes can be identifed and described.
Language Functions and Features: ● Mathematical terms ( shapes, attributes, describe, triangle, hexagon, 2-D, rectangle, square, 3-D, fat) ● Visuals ( shapes, tools ) to support approach, solution, and/or extract information ● Declarative statements to state conclusion ( I know this is a cone because…. ) ● Preposition Phrases to show relative position ( below the square , beside the cone, in front of the triangle, behind the red, and next to the circle )
