Skill Building

Word Wall: Create a word wall with the positional words: above, behind, below, beside, in front of, next to. Ask students to bring in pictures of objects that are in the shapes of cubes, cylinders, spheres, cones, rectangles, squares, circles, hexagons, and triangles. Provide a large space next to the Word Wall for students to hang up their pictures. As students add pictures to the wall, ask them to describe their pictures by frst identifying the shapes of their objects and then using positional words to describe the locations of objects.
