Math Phrases: Have students say the phrase ten ones and some more ones. First, ask students to explain ten ones. Listen for students talking about a group of ten, counting to ten, saying that a full ten-frame equals ten, or describing part of 12 cubes or part of the equation that is equal to ten. Then ask students what is meant by some more ones. Again, have them use a picture and numbers to aid their explanations.Give each student 13 small objects. Have each student practice making a group of ten and some more ones.

Strand: Weather Patterns Standard K.1.3: Carry out an investigation using the fve senses, to determine the effect of sunlight on different surfaces and materials. Examples could include measuring temperature, through touch or other methods, on natural and man-made materials in various locations throughout the day.
