TPACK is a technology integration framework that identifies three types of knowledge that instructors need to combine for successful educational technology integration: Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (a.k.a. TPACK). These three primary forms of knowledge are not entirely separate. In fact, the intersections of each are critical because they represent deeper levels of understanding.
When lesson planning, consider the three elements of the TPACK framework, guiding questions, and CSD instructional guides to: collaborate as grade level or content PLC teams to improve planning identify learning intentions and success criteria by using grade level / content standards post, state, and rephrase learning intentions and success criteria in all learning spaces identify and implement teaching strategies to guide student thinking and learning identify tasks that will promote complex thinking use the Best Practices for Digital Teaching and Learning to determine when to integrate technology into instruction and student learning experiences use technology intentionally to provide learner-centered learning experiences that are designed to maximize student learning and instructional time leverage digital tools to scaffold instruction and learning tasks Critical Actions for Educators
Guiding Questions It is important to start with content and pedagogical knowledge and integrate and use technology when appropriate. Use the questions below to help guide your thinking when using the TPACK framework for planning lessons. Content Knowledge (CK) What are you teaching and what is your knowledge of the subject? What are the standards for your grade level / content area? Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) How do your students learn best and what instructional strategies do you need to use to meet their needs and the requirements of the lesson? Technological Knowledge (TK) What digital tools are available to you, which do you know well enough to use, and which would be most appropriate for the lesson at hand? of TPACK is to understand how to use technology to teach concepts in a way that enhances student learning experiences. The center of the diagram, otherwise known as TPACK, represents a full understanding of how to teach with technology. Keep in mind that this is not the same as having knowledge of each of the three primary concepts individually. Instead, the point
