Data-based Decision Making Team Problem Solving Collaborative teams consistently use a problem solving protocol to systematically analyze and reflect on a variety of relevant data to facilitate decision making around the need for supports or instructional adjustments.
CSD’s multi-tiered teaming structures are embedded in an MTSS framework to enhance student success through a proactive and responsive approach. It is designed to provide a systematic way of identifying and addressing the diverse needs of students, ensuring that all students receive the appropriate levels of support and intervention to reach their full potential. In Canyons, teaming structures include a Building Leadership Team (BLT), Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and a Student Support Team (SST). Involves establishing clarity of purpose, utilizing an established team structure with shared leadership, ensuring accountability, following an established problem solving process, building trust through equitable participation and collaboration among team members, and shared decision making in order for teams to be efficient, productive, and effective. Systematic data review is critical for informing decision making at the school and classroom levels and dedicating time for collaborative problem solving around data allows educators to focus on students’ strengths and priorities for instruction in order to enhance student learning. A collaborative model for team decision-making leverages the diverse perspectives and expertise of all team members to focus on relevant data, problem solve around data, and reach consensus on well-informed plans of action to improve student outcomes.
