are used as intended, and well-planned instruction in Tier I are the most effcient ways to reach the highest number of students, thus leading to greater student outcomes. Acadience Math assessments are predictors, but only refect a small number of grade level standards. Therefore, it is essential that teachers use enVision 2020 resources, which represent the greatest number of standards, thus giving a more complete picture of student achievement. Teachers intervene throughout their lessons to identify students who may need additional support and collect data to ensure the lesson was successful.
General Guidance:
DRAFT ● Teach skills in Tier I frst before intervening on a skill/standard, regardless of the Acadience score. Tier I instruction is the most important factor in having students reach profciency in mathematics. (Utah’s PK-12 Mathematics Framework is a helpful resource.) ● Notice the positive frst and build on a student’s strengths when providing extra instructional support. ● Match the student’s need and the focus of the extra instructional support for more effective and effcient instruction. ● Improve fundamental skills from the major work of the grade frst to have a positive effect on more diffcult or complex skills. ● Group students with very similar needs when creating small groups. Do not group solely based on benchmark level, because students at the same level will have varying abilities. Keep in mind that Acadience ® Math does not measure grade level profciency in mathematics. It is a brief screening assessment which sorts students’ scores into twogroups :
