Review Key Terms using a Graphic Organizer: Use the Word Chart (Teaching Tool 26) to review <, >, and =. Students will put each of the three on the new word side of the graphic organizer. As a class, discuss what each term means and how you could draw a representation on the organizer to refer back to throughout the lesson. Open Middle Comparing Decimals 1 and 2. There are many possible answers to these problems, so students can be challenged to fnd additional solutions.

STEM Project: Energy and Decimals
Strand: Energy Transfer Standard: 4.2.2. Ask questions and make observations about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide. Emphasize that energy is transferred when objects collide and may be converted to different forms of energy. Examples could include changes in speed when one moving ball collides with another or the transfer of energy when a toy car hits a wall.
