College and Career Awareness

Extension

Career Debate (CTSO Competitive Event Style): Students engage in structured debates on timely career topics such as “Is college necessary for success?” or “Are nontraditional careers undervalued?” They develop arguments supported by credible research, mirroring CTSO competitive speaking or team event formats. Personal Career Narrative (Prepared Speaking Alignment): Students craft a personal narrative that highlights how their unique interests, skills, and values align with a future career path. Using labor market data or interview insights, they present or submit this as a speech or multimedia project, similar to CTSO-prepared speaking events. Digital Portfolio Creation (Aligned with Job Interview or Career Prep Events): Students develop a professional portfolio that includes their resume, mock interview video, career reflections, and postsecondary research. Each item is thoughtfully captioned with rationale, echoing the documentation requirements in CTSO events like Job Interview, Career Pathways Showcase, or Professional Portfolio.
