Performance Objective(s): ● Students will participate in at least one simulated CTSO competitive event. ● Students will reflect on the process, experience, and future impacts of participating in a CTSO SCAFFOLDING IN ACTION Skill Building ● Provide a graphic organizer. ○ Career Path Mapping : Use a timeline graphic to help students map out
the steps to reach a career goal (e.g., education → certification → entry-level job). Highlight where CTSO involvement can enhance each stage. ○ Mock Interview Reflection : After mock interviews, students can sequence events (first → next → last) and then complete a "Claim + Evidence" organizer to explain what they learned and what went well. ○ Job Application Process Flowchart : Use a visual step-by-step chart to outline the application process (identify job → prepare resume → submit → interview → follow-up), and show how CTSO participation can support each step (e.g., resume-building, interview skills). ○ Provide vocabulary banks for writing tasks (e.g., thank-you emails, career essays) and oral tasks (e.g., mock interviews, career comparisons), including terms related to CTSOs and career pathways. ○ Career Research Essay : Highlight use of transitions, topic sentences, accurate career facts, and citations. ○ Thank-You Email : Annotate for formal structure—greeting, purpose, appreciation, and closing. ○ CTE Goal Statement : Include a sample with annotations showing how to articulate a goal, connect it to a CTE pathway, and outline next steps, including CTSO involvement. ○ Bilingual Journals : Let students reflect on career interests or CTSO participation using both English and their home language. ○ Partner Share : Allow students to discuss career goals in their home language first, then practice expressing them in English. ○ Dual-Language Word Walls : Display key CTSO terms and career vocabulary in both English and the students’ home language
