●​ Review the organization and purpose of the three branches of government. ○​ When explaining the executive branch, identify and explain the purpose and function of the President’s cabinet. ○​ When explaining the judicial branch, identify and explain the function of judicial review and its impact on government and society. ○​ When explaining the legislative branch, identify and explain how a bill becomes a law and the legislative process. ●​ Review key components of research . ●​ As a class, research and identify current issues in the U.S. Next, have individual students or groups of students select a current issue in the U.S. to research further and to examine how the government is addressing the issue. (Students should focus on how their understanding of the U.S. government - identified above - helped them identify how the U.S. government is/is not addressing the current issue they chose or where assigned.)
