Front load/ follow-up of Word Work from core word analysis or phonics for practice station Model the reading excerpt as a review/warm-up

• Work text or word sort as follow-up to vocabulary mini-lesson • Word sorting or Reader’s Writer’s Notebook from word analysis or Phonics

Word Work 3-5 minutes

• Decodable reader • Leveled reader • Fresh Reads • Main Selection • Decodable reader • Leveled reader • Fresh Reads • Main Selection

Modeled Reading 2 minutes

• Teacher reads a short segment of text

demonstrating appropriate rate, phrasing, accuracy and prosody. • The student echoes back following along in the text attempting appropriate rate, phrasing, accuracy and prosody. • Students reread the same short segment of the text, using the Tell, Ask, Start Again Strategy: Tell: “That word is___.” Ask: “What word?” Start Again: “Start the sentence again.” • Teacher monitors a pair(s) or individual using the Table Tap Routine • Summarize using the using a four square or sentence frame

Echo Reading 3-5 minutes
