Read 180 CODE Software Read 180 CODE software includes engaging and motivating opportunities for students to learn, practice, and apply skills. Each Software Topic begins with direct instruction followed by multiple activities that lead students to develop accuracy in word reading and spelling, an concludes with transfer to connected text. Teachers use the data from the software to differentiate instruction in small groups and reinforce the skills being taught in the software. Read 180 CODE Progress Monitoring and Summative Midyear and End of Year Test Read 180 CODE has five progress monitoring tests that assess phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, spelling and morphology. These test are given throughout the year after certain lessons are mastered in the adaptive student software. The two summative assessments help monitor how well students have maintained skills and whether they can apply and transfer those stills to new contexts. These assessments are administered midyear and at the end of the year and cover phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, spelling, vocabulary, and morphology. Progress Monitoring Measures There are many curriculum-embedded assessments in the R180 CODE program. These include writing, research projects, daily formative assessments, book quizzes, and oral fluency assessments.
