Active involvement of the majority of students in structured academic routines such as Think(Write)-Pair-Share, Academic Discussion, Building Fluency, Vocabulary, Close Reading, Do Now etc. During structured interactions, students follow appropriate discourse procedures (sentence frames/response frames) and remain on topic Students use academic and content-area vocabulary while responding in complete sentences

Independent Reading Implementation Success Indicators

Classroom library is well-organized, with book levels clearly identifed *Student libraries may not be present in the classroom. Students may be access the curriculum library digitally through their Student Central Students select appropriate books and/or eReads based on interest and reading ability (50 lexile below to 100 above)

Students actively read silently or with audio support for the entire rotation

Independent reading expectations established through: reading logs, graphic organizer, tracking log, quick write, reading tracker, or quizzes.

Teacher/Para, regularly monitors student reading logs or other accountability measures

Regular recognition of student reading gains are in place

Teacher/para conferences with individual students to track goals and provide feedback on performance and engagement in Independent Reading
