Language Launch Rotations

Whole Group Learning Given the language levels of Language Launch, the majority of instruction in Language Launch is teacher-facilitated, whole group learning in pronunciation, conceptual knowledge of vocabulary, numerous echoing exercises, close reading and writing exercises in themes appropriate to students acquiring basic survival English skills.

Small Group Learning Small-Group Learning activities in Language Launch occur gradually after the first level of the program, “Starting Out.” Activities serve as reinforcement for skills introduced during Whole Group Learning sections “Look and Explore” and “Listen and Talk” group and partner activities. Individual activities can be adapted to small group setting as supplemental resources are added to Language Launch for independent practice.

Student Application While there is no Student Application technology rotation of the program, Language Launch students can benefit from supplemental programs to the curriculum, such as the R180 Code Student Application. This program address additional phonemic awareness, basic literacy skills, and conceptual knowledge necessary to language development that will assist in other content area course and higher level language development programs, such as Read 180.

Independent Reading When students have acquired enough language and phonics skills from Read 180 Code, students have their choice of engaging, content ‐ rich texts to which they can apply their newly acquired vocabulary and comprehension skills. They use the Bookshelf on Student Central to search for paperbacks, audiobooks, eBooks, and eReads according to their interests, Lexile range, author, or keywords.
