STEM Concepts
strategic decisions.
Test & Evaluate :
● Test Scenario Design
○ Teach students to create valid testing conditions that reflect real-world use cases and data collection procedures. ○ Encourage documentation of both minor flaws and complete failures to normalize learning from what doesn’t work. ○ Facilitate sessions where students compare test results against original success criteria and justify outcomes. ○ Teach students how to graph test results, look for patterns, and use quantitative reasoning to assess performance. ○ Visual trackers (like whiteboard kanbans or Trello boards) help students see that iteration is ongoing, not a single step. ○ Have students review discarded ideas or early sketches, as new solutions may emerge from earlier thinking. ○ Set up mini-conferences where students present redesign plans and get peer/specialist feedback before making changes. ○ Ask students to optimize by reducing cost, improving functionality, or minimizing environmental impact using data or equations.
