McGraw Hill Unit 2: Using Energy

GRADE 4 SCIENCE

Module: Energy Transfer

Total Time: 430 Min. About 3 Weeks

Lesson 2: Sound & Light Lesson 3: Electricity Lesson 4: Heat *Components from McGraw Hill Lessons 2 - 4 will be utilized to teach standards 4.2.3 & 4.2.4. The Module Opener will be used for the phenomena instead of the individual lesson phenomena.

I am learning about electric currents so that I can explain how electricity moves through a conductor. Success Criteria: I’ll know I have learned it when I can explain how a circuit helps transfer energy. I am learning how to build a series circuit and a parallel circuit so that I can observe similarities and differences. Success Criteria: I’ll know I have learned it when I can explain how the circuit proves that energy was transferred by electric current. I am learning how the particles of a substance move in hot and cold water so that I can understand how temperature affects movement of particles. Success Criteria: I’ll know I have learned it when I can make a claim about how particles move in a liquid as the temperature changes.
