SALTA 1st Grade Curriculum Map

Elementary STEM  Brain Booster Overview  Suggested Scope and Sequence:   ● Unit 1: Empowered Learner – Technology Basics   (Chromebooks, CSD Docs, Macs, logging in, etc.)  ● Unit 2: Digital Citizen – Digital Citizenship with Common Sense Media  ● Unit 3: Knowledge Constructor – Conducting Online Research  ● Unit 4: Global Collaborator – Google Earth, Google Maps  ● Unit 5: Creative Communicator – iMovie, Garage Band, Koma Koma  ● Unit 6: Innovative Designer – Lego Simple Machines/Lego Robots Curriculum 

● Unit 7: Computational Thinker - Sphero  ● Unit 8: Keyboarding Block – Optional 

The STEM Brain booster course focuses primarily on Science, Technology and  Engineering. Students will spend time learning key technology that will be  used throughout their education in Canyons School district like CSD Docs, and  Canvas. Students will also learn how to utilize programs like Google Earth and  Google Maps to help them learn about the world around them. Students will  also learn how to use technology to show their creativity in the form of iMovie,  Garage Band and Koma Koma. Engineering is also a key feature of STEM.  Students will engineering Lego Robots which can be coded to complete  specific tasks, as well as Lego Simple Machines and program Spheros.
