Elementary PE Brainbooster

● In this game, students are going to avoid being tagged by the tagger (Pacman) by running along the painted lines on the gym floor. ● One or two students will be chosen to be the taggers and are trying to tag every student to win while also staying on the lines. ● If a student gets tagged, they must sit down, creating a barrier. If students who are still up come across a barrier, they must turn around. ● Taggers are allowed to go around barriers. ● The game continues until the final student(s) are left. They will begin the new round as the next taggers. Review safe tagging ● Taggers must always use “butterfly fingers”, which are soft, fluttering fingers that only tag on U.S.A. ○ Upper back ○ Shoulders ○ Arms Review the consequences ● If a student jumps lines, moves past a barrier, or goes out of bounds, they must sit down as a barrier. Add a “medic” who can tag students who are barriers to get them back in the game. Once they are tagged, they must sit down themselves.

Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● How did we play safely during that game? ● Where can we play this game during recess?

Prepare students for the next activity.

Partner Passing

Show How How to Play:

● Have students spread out across the gym, shoulder to shoulder, one half on one side of the court, the other half facing them. ● In partners, students will stand at least five feet between them. Student A will begin with the ball while student B will wait for the pass. ● Student A will pass the ball to student B, who will catch the ball. They will pass back to student A. Review the different passes in basketball. ● Chest Pass: Holding the ball at chest level, students will pass the ball, shooting their hands straight in front of them, to get the ball to their partner's chest. They should take one step with their dominant leg when passing. ● Bounce Pass: Holding the ball at chest level, students will push the ball towards the ground, bouncing it halfway to their partner. The ball should bounce once before reaching their partner.
