Soccer Smash
Show How How to Play:
● Divide a large rectangle space (basketball court) in half, creating a half court line. ● Split the students up into two teams, one on each endline and arrange the five cones along the endline, equal distance from one another. ● Outline a “safe zone” where students aren’t allowed to be in. This will be two feet away from the half court line on each side and marked by four cones. ● On your “Go Word”, play will begin with each time having one ball and kicking it to the other side, attempting to knock down the other team's cones. ● Students are allowed to block with their feet, legs, and chests, but no hands. ● Once all the cones have been knocked down, reset all of the cones and start over. Review rules and consequences of the game. ● If students use their hands to protect a cone, that cone must be tipped over. ● If a student crosses into the “safe zone”, have them come out of the game and do a movement based activity, like jumping jacks, before going back into the game. Ask the following: ● What were good defensive strategies? Offensive strategies?
