Scoring Practice and Hot Spots (Soccer)

I can… 3rd: Run up to a ball and kick it with accuracy. 4th: Combine dribbling and striking a soccer ball. 5th: Combine moving and shooting to score.

Materials/ Space Needed Home Base (Baseline, Sideline or Circle with paint or cones to mark boundary) Large circle Soccer Balls (1 per group of 4-6 students) Small soccer goals or Cones (1 goal per 4-6 students) Poly Spots (10+ per teams: 2 or 4 teams) Vocabulary Accuracy: Being free of mistakes or errors. I controlled my kick for accuracy instead of power.

Striking: To make contact with force. Instead of kicking the ball softly, I must strike it to add speed.

Shooting: To send with force towards a goal. I was shooting the ball at the goal during recess.

Introduction

Begin class with a warm up procedure: ● Prepare students with daily expectations before entering the gym OR on Home Base. ● Warm up procedure may include several laps around the gym, stretching routine, or another quick, movement based activity. ● Back at Home Base, review rules/expectations of the school and

PE/Playworks with explicit examples when appropriate. ● Review any other specific reminders needed for the day.

Before releasing students for the first game, use a Sequence Touch to get them to the location you need them to be for the first activity.
