half on one side of the court, the other half facing them. ● In partners, students will stand at least five feet between them. Student A will begin with the ball while student B will wait for the pass. ● Student A will kick the ball to student B, who will control it by stopping the ball with their foot. They will pass back to student A. ● Continue this distance and if students are successful, have them take one step back. Review how to pass and trap a ball. ● Students should pass a ball contacting it with the inside of the foot. ● Students will trap the ball by holding out their foot, toes pointed up, and absorbing the pass. They can also step on top of the ball if they are able to time it. Before returning to Home Base, make sure the students who have the soccer ball return it back to you.

Show How How to Play:

● You will break students up into groups of 4-6 students and have them line up behind a cone set up five feet away from a goal (or two cones several feet apart) against a wall. ● Have the first student place the ball on the ground by their cone and kick it into the goal. No matter if they make it or miss it, they will retrieve the ball and bring it back to the next student in line and go to the end of their own team's line. ● Students will continue kicking the ball one at a time until everyone has gone several times. ● Students may offer to be goalies for the student that goes after them. 1st Grade Modification ● Instead of kicking from a stationary stance, 2nd graders will walk up to the stationary ball and kick it while they are in motion. 2nd Grade Modification ● While the kicker is stationary, have another student roll the ball gently towards them from in front, off to the side. The student who rolled the ball will retrieve it. Students will rotate from kicker to roller back to the line (or into the goal if they are using goalies).
