Elementary PE Brainbooster
● If one of them passes out of control, they must both take a step back in. 5th Grade Modification ● Have students line up in two lines (A and B or color of cones) that are about 10 feet apart at the endline, line A starting with the ball. ● The first student in line B will jog ahead and the first student in line A will pass them the ball and jog straight ahead. ● They will continue passing the ball back and forth until they reach the other end line and line up there, waiting for the rest of the pairs to get to that end line. ● Once all pairs have gone, they will go back, using the same method of controlled passes with movement. Review how to pass and trap a ball. ● Students should pass a ball contacting it with the inside of the foot. ● Students will trap the ball by holding out their foot, toes pointed up, and absorbing the pass. They can also step on top of the ball if they are able to time it. 5th Grade Modification ● Students will use the same passing technique, but try to pass slightly ahead of their partner, who is moving sideways down the court. ● Instead of trapping the ball, they will tap the ball once or twice (dribbling) to control it before passing it back. Before returning to Home Base, make sure the students who have the soccer ball return it back to you.

Debrief
Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● What was challenging about that activity? ● How comfortable are you with passing the ball?
Prepare students for the next activity.
Dribble Relay (Soccer)
Show How How to Play:
● You will break students up into teams of 4-6 students and have them line up behind a tall cone at one endline. Each cone should be spread out about 10+ feet. ● Give the first student in line a ball and tell them to wait until your “Go Word”. ● On the signal, the first student will dribble the ball down to the other end line, turn around, and dribble back to their team. ● Have them stop a few feet from their cone and pass the ball to the next student in line. ● Continue this rotation until all students get at least one turn.
Practice andPlay
Review what a dribble is. ● Leaning slightly forward, tap the ball gently and continuously to maintain forward motion.
