One, Two, Three... Like call and response, this is a simple saying followed by the student's response. The best
resources for these are your teachers! Many of them use these little cheers, see which ones your students already know. There are endless examples of these: make them fun! School Chant Adult/Line leader calls out cheers and students repeat the lines with the body motion. Use your school name and mascot in the cheer!
~Shark Bait, oh ha ha! ~Class, class, yes, yes! ~Hocus Pocus, everybody focus!
Everyone: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Adult: Ready Set? Students: You bet! Adult: Clap, clap, clap! Students: Clap, clap, clap! (while clapping) Adult: Stomp, stomp, stomp! Students: Stomp, stomp, stomp (while stomping). Adult: Crescent Cubs can’t be beat! Students: Crescent Cubs can’t be beat! Adult: Hands on your head! Student: Hands on your head! (hands on head) Adult: Straight line! Students: Straight line! (students face forward) Adult: Folded arms Students: Folded arms (fold arms) Adult: Biiiig bubble! Students: Big bubble (put a bubble in their mouth to end quietly)
Change up the commands: ● Add more movement (wave your arms, jump in place, spin around, etc.) ● “Deep breath” before ending quietly
Key Concepts ● When outside, use a loud and energetic voice to begin these. Let the students get their wiggles out and shout a little, repeating the phrase and getting quieter each time. ● ALWAYS end in a controlled state: frozen, silent, etc. They will be ready to listen to the next set of directions and transition. ● ALWAYS have fun with the cheers and students. Ask the students who are listening for examples.
