Elementary PE Brainbooster

either show you they have it or reveal empty hands, and you will go back to your saying. ● If you guess correctly, the students must return the object to your hula hoop and restart back on the endline. If you are incorrect, continue with rounds of the saying/freezing them and guessing. ● If they are able to get it back across their endline without you catching them, they win!

Practice and Play

Review what it means to freeze and the consequences of being caught.

Practice a round where you send students back to the endline.

You can add a rule that students must pass the object a certain amount of times before they cross the end line.

Debrief

Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● How did you follow the rules to this game? ● What was fun and challenging about this game?

Transition your students to the next activity.

Birds Nest

Show How How to Play:

● Split students up into four teams, each standing in the corner of the gym with a hula hop. ● In the center of the game is a hula hoop filled with the bean bags/fuzzy balls. ● In a relay fashion, teams will send one student at a time to the center “nest” to retrieve one “egg” and bring it back to their nest. Once they return, the next student will do the same. ● Once all the “eggs” are gone from the center “nest”, students may retrieve them from other teams “nests”. ● Each team is trying to end the round (several minutes) with the most amount of “eggs”. Reset the game with all the “eggs” back in the center “nest”. Review how to rotate as a team in a relay. ● Students must wait for their teammate to return back to their “nest” before leaving. ● Change up the movement from jogging, skipping, leaping, etc. each round. ● Remind students who are waiting in line to cheer for players.
