Elementary PE Brainbooster
○ Touching the pole ○ Catch or “carry” the ball (modifications below) ● If the game is lasting too long, students can either:
○ Count hits (20 hits total) and whoever has the rope twisted in their direction is the winner. ○ Count to 30 and both players leave the game or play RSB and the winner stays. Review how to hit the ball and safely stand in the game. ● Stand towards the edge of the circle, ready to move towards the ball. ● Hands are up and ready: they can block the ball to protect themselves.
Practice andPlay
Remind students who are waiting in line to cheer for players.
Modification: ● Have students practice hitting back and forth, trying to get up to a number as a team. ● Younger ages can catch and throw the ball.
Debrief
Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● How did tetherball challenge us? ● What did you like about this game? WrapUp
