Introduction
Begin class with a warm up procedure: ● Prepare students with daily expectations before entering the gym OR on Home Base. ● Warm up procedure may include several laps around the gym, stretching routine, or another quick, movement based activity. ● Back at Home Base, review rules/expectations of the school and
PE/Playworks with explicit examples when appropriate. ● Review any other specific reminders needed for the day.
Before releasing students for the first game, use a Sequence Touch to get them to the location you need them to be for the first activity.
The game that you chose today will take up the entire class period.
Chaos Kickball
Show How How to Play:
● Split the class up into two teams, having one start as the “kicking” team and the other spread out in the field. ● As the pitcher, you will have all of the kickballs in the large container next to you. You will pitch a ball to the first kicker and prepare to pitch continuously to each student, with minimal pauses between. ● After the first kicker kicks, they will run around the bases all the way back to home plate, no matter where they kick the ball. You will pitch the next ball to the next kicker, creating “chaos” with multiple kickballs out in the field at once. ● The fielding team’s job is to get the ball back to the container (no tagging or outs) before you run out of kickballs. Be mindful of timing the pitches out to best time the safety of students returning to home
