Yum, Yum, Yum!
Show How How to Play:
● Students will spread out across the gym with enough space to avoid running into other students. ● You will call out different foods that are high or low-nutrient. ● Students will decide which category that food belongs to and do the assigned motion. ● Shout out the correct answer and get everyone to do the correct motion. Once all the students are doing the correct motion, yell out another food item.
Practice andPlay
Define “nutritious” and “low-nutrient” foods. Demonstrate the two motions: ● Running in Place= High-nutrient foods ● Plank: Low-nutrient foods
Review some examples of high and low-nutrient foods: ● Broccoli, milk strawberries vs. soda, cake, cookies
Refer to the “Food List” for food ideas and “Recommended Activities” to change up the motions.
Debrief

Show How How to Play:
● In this game, there will be 2-3 taggers while everyone else is free to move around inside the large boundary. ● On your “Go Word”, taggers will attempt to tag as many students while they move safely around inside the tag area. ● When a student gets tagged, the tagger will call out a color, telling the tagged student where to go. ● The tagged student will go to that color of cone and do jumping jacks, calling out each letter that spells the color. For example, at the “Blue” cone, a student will do four jumping jacks, saying “B-L-U-E” with each jump. ● Taggers will try to send as many students to each of the colors until it’s time to switch. ● Freeze the game to give other students a chance to be taggers. Review how to spell each color and demonstrate jumping jacks with each letter ● When reviewing each color, give examples of what foods are within that food group. Modification
