Appreciating & Analyzing Theatre as an Artform Beginning/Introductory Theatre Course
THEATRE 7/8 STANDARDS: ● 7–8.T.R.3: Formulate a deeper understanding and appreciation of a drama/ theatre work by considering its specifc purpose or intended audience. ● 7–8.T.R.5: Examine a drama/theatre work using supporting evidence and criteria, while considering art forms, history, culture, and other disciplines. ● 7–8.T.R.6: Describe and analyze how artists make choices based on personal experience in a drama/theatre work. ● 7–8.T.R.7: Identify and explain why artistic choices are made in a drama/theatre work. ● 7–8.T.CO.1: Examine a community issue through multiple perspectives in a drama/theatre work. ● Standard 7–8.T.CO.2: Research how other theatre artists apply creative processes to tell stories in a devised or scripted drama/theatre work, using theatre research methods. ● Standard 7–8.T.CO.3: Examine contemporary social, cultural, or global issues through different forms of drama theatre work. STUDENT EXPECTATIONS: Read, view, research and discuss works of theatre that speak to or address social, community, or global issues so I can explore and consider the cultural context, historical context, artist’s process, artist’s purpose, and intended audience.
