Collection - a group of similar things. The books and resources in a library. Picture Books - books with pictures and words meant to be shared with adult and child readers Quick Reads - a collection of shorter books that help us become better readers

Choose a picture book and nonfiction book to read aloud from the current Beehive Book nominees.
Nonfiction - books that help us learn through information
WELCOME & ACTIVATE BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE (5 minutes) Greet students warmly at the library door. Before entering the library, review entering and seating procedures. Settle students in seats either at tables or on a rug. Congratulate them on their behavior and following directions. Explain again any reward system for behavior in your school library. Practice the attention-getters you will be using this school year. Say: Think of your home. Everything has a spot. Where would you find a toothbrush in your home? [Responses]. Where would you find a plate? [Responses]. Where do you find your bed? [Responses]. Where do you keep your backpack? [Responses] What happens when you don’t put things away in the right spot? [Responses should include things get lost] Acknowledge responses. Say: Just like everything in your home has a place so things don’t get lost, every library book has its own special spot on the shelves so they don’t get lost and all of our friends can find them to borrow them.

Say: We have two learning objectives. Listen closely: First, we are going to keep practicing whole body listening. So, I can listen to stories. Next, it’s important to learn where books go. K: I can recognize books go in specific places. 1-2: I can find quick reads, picture books, and informational books. Then 38
