WELCOME & ACTIVATE BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE Greet students warmly at the library door. Follow opening procedures to prepare students for learning. Say: Alright everyone, let’s do a little review from the past two weeks. I’m going to show you a media example, and your job is to be a digital detective and ask questions we could use to decide if this source can be trusted. So far we have learned to be mindful of triggers and access. Show Source #1. Invite students to share questions they would ask to evaluate this media based on triggers and access. Lead by example and ask one or two questions to get students thinking. Questions could be: ● Does being on a smart phone change how I interact with this? ● Does it have a like count? ● What does the headline make me feel? Do I need to pause? ● What does this picture make me feel?

Facilitate student response.
