Nonfiction - books that help us learn through information
Identify - to figure out what it is, or who it is

Lead students through a vocabulary exercise to be able to say, recognize, and understand the word identify.
OBJECTIVE Remind students how to do whole body listening while you are instructing. Display objectives. Say: I can listen to stories. We are getting so good at this! nonfiction. Those are two more new words! DIRECT INSTRUCTION & PRACTICE Step 1: Build vocabulary & background knowledge Display words fiction and nonfiction.
Say: Almost all books can be identified as either fiction or nonfiction. Let’s look at nonfiction books first. What do you notice about these books on the table? [You may allow students to approach the display for a closer look] 80
