● Look. Look at this old quilt (double spread): What do you see happening? Is the little girl in more than one place at once? How does this illustration show the passing of time? This is called sequential art because it shows the passing of time in sequence or order. Is the little girl enjoying the quilt museum? How do you know? ● Like a peck on a cheek (double spread): Let’s compare the last page with this one. How does each page make you feel? Why? Why would the author and illustrator choose to order the book this way? The book is going to use illustrations to change the tempo throughout the book. Watch closely for busy and slow pages and how they make you feel. ● A wolf’s come to eat you (double spread): What do you think is going to happen next?! ● There they go (double spread): How have the little girl’s feelings about her aunts changed? How do you know? ● After reading: What nonsensical or absurd things did you notice in this book? Let’s look at the endpapers again. Why did the illustrator design all of these t-shirts? Did you notice what the redhead aunt wears in the story? Let’s go back and look!
