Appropriate use of AI in CTE
Ways You Can Use AI in CTE to Support Teaching & Learning, cont.
Project-Based Learning
Brainstorm ideas and solutions Assist with planning, design, and project management Support reflection and improvement Critical Thinking Evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and bias Analyze workplace scenarios and problem-solving strategies Identify safety, quality, and compliance considerations
These applications demonstrate how AI can enhance technical skill development, career readiness, and authentic learning experiences across CTE programs.
Make it Transparent
In a CTE lesson, students develop technical skills, solve problems, and complete projects with clear AI expectations at each stage. Skill practice, hands-on demonstrations, and assessments are completed independently, while AI may be used to support brainstorming, research, troubleshooting, or revision of professional documents. Final products and demonstrations remain authentic representations of student learning. Transparency comes from clearly communicating when AI is appropriate and modeling how it can support, rather than replace, technical skill development and critical thinking.
