ELEMENTARY ELA District Wide Standards Based Assessments
DISTRICT-WIDE STANDARDS-BASED ASSESSMENTs (DWSBAs) DWSBAs are part of the CSD Assessment system. DWSBAs are designed to formatively assess where students are in their learning progression towards mastery of targeted standards and to provide feedback to students at set points in time. DWSBA Assessment Manual Each teacher will have a printed DWSBA Testing Administration Manual (TAM). The manual can be reprinted from the link below. Grade level PLC’s read the DWSBA protocol page together and decide if they will be administering it as is, or make approved accommodations as a grade level team.. Teachers and PLC’s use DWSBA data to make instructional adjustments that impact student learning. Administration This assessment is not timed. Use professional judgement to determine the appropriate time needed that may allow for productive struggle. Time should not exceed 45 minutes. If some students do not complete the entirety of the assessment, use the completed portions to make instructional decisions. Students should be allowed to finish to the best of their ability, and should not be pressured to spend more time on the task which may not change the student’s score. Students receiving services from special education, guided by an IEP, and ML students are receiving core instruction. The assessments align to grade level core standards, therefore no additional accommodations other than those outlined in the DWSBA manual should be assigned. DWSBA Administration Manuals
