DLI 4th Grade Guide
4th Grade Math Scope & Sequence
b. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale. Standard 4.MD.3 Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real-world and mathematical problems. For example, fnd the width of a rectangular room given the area of the fooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
End of Unit Competency
By the end of Topic 13 students will be able to explain how to convert from one unit of measure to another. Language Functions & Features Describe data and/or steps to solve problems using: ● Mathematical terms ( customary unit, metric unit, capacity, perimeter, convert, measure, identify ) ● Past tense doing verbs ( measured, converted ) to recount steps ● Connectors to order steps ( frst, next, then ) and indicate reasons ( because, so, that means, as a result )
● Declarative statements to state conclusion (eg. The area of the rug is… ) ● Visuals ( charts, area models ) to support approach and/or solution SKILLS VOCABULARY
