DLI 4th Grade Guide

Utah Core Standards for Mathematics Progressions

o Apply the area and perimeter formulas in real world problems o Make a line plot to display data set of measurements in fractions of a unit ( ! " , ! # , ! $ ) • Represent and interpret data by making a line plot to display data set of measurements in fractions of a unit ( ! " , ! # , ! $ ) • Understand concepts of angle and measure angles o As angle is measured with reference to a circle o An angle that turns through n one-degree is said to have an angle measure of n degrees o Measure and sketch angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor o Recognize angles measures as additive o Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles • Draw points, lines, line segments, ray, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines in two-dimensional figures • Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. • Recognize right triangles as a category and identify right triangles • Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure and identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry

o Apply formulas V=l x w x h and V= b x h o Recognize volume as additive o Find volume of solid figures composed of two non overlapping right rectangular prisms

Geometry

• Graph points on the coordinate plane to solve real-world and mathematical problems in the first quadrant • Classify two-dimensional figures into categories based on their properties o Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures belong to all subcategories o Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties
