Highly Evident/Evident • Rules and expectations specific to routines and behaviors in the classroom are displayed in an area of the classroom that is readable and readily accessible to students. AND • Teacher prompts are appropriate (stated positively) to pre-correct or reinforce classroom rules and expectations or all students follow posted classroom rules and expectations, and no prompts were needed. Partially Evident • Rules are posted, but specific rules and expectations pertaining to the classroom are not evident. • Teacher missed one or more opportunities to provide appropriate prompts to pre correct or reinforce classroom rules and expectations. Not Evident • Rules specific to classroom expectations are not displayed. OR • Teacher does not attempt to provide appropriate prompts to pre-correct or reinforce classroom rules and expectations. New C2. Positive teacher-student relationships. Positive teacher-student relationships help to promote a sense of trust, belonging, and safety. Determine whether the teacher’s interactions with students are respectful and positive in nature and serve to provide a safe, supportive learning environment for all students. All of the teacher’s interactions with students are respectful and positive. AND • The teacher encourages students to openly use positive and respectful communication to contribute to classroom or peer discussions. AND • Students seem willing to attempt a response even if incorrect. Does Not Meet Expectations • Not all of the teacher’s interactions with students are respectful and positive. OR • The teacher does not encourage students to use positive and respectful communication when contributing to classroom or peer discussions. Meets Expectations •
