NWEA MAP Reading Screener Frequently Asked Questions and Resources MAPGrowth 2024-25 School Year 1. When will NWEA’s MAP Growth be administered? Who will train me on the new MAP benchmark assessment? Secondary instructional coaches, along with support from district specialists, will train you in Fall 2024. The combined school training and testing window is set for August 20th to September 25 th The fall testing window will be a little longer than usual to provide for school-based training and test administration (almost five weeks). Overall, administering MAP Growth is very similar to RISE. The majority of the training next year will be focused on understanding and utilizing the assessment results in your instruction. 2. How long should I plan for MAP Growth testing in comparison to the Reading Inventory? According to our Middle School and High School ELA Pilot teachers, MAP Growth is a longer test than Reading Inventory. The MAP Proctor Guide states that students take 40 to 60 minutes on average. The length of the test is 40 to 43 items. More than one class period should be scheduled in Fall 2024 as MAP Growth is an adaptive measure and this first test period may take longer. Once a student baseline is established the latter administrations (Winter, Spring) should be slightly shorter. 3. Will the results between MAP Growth and Reading Inventory (RI) be comparable? No. MAP Growth is not directly comparable to RI. The district will be setting a new achievement baseline in Fall 2024. The content standards and skills are the same but the test questions, item types, scale scores, and proficiency levels are all new. MAP uses their RIT Scale whereas RI used Lexile Scores. 4. How long should I plan for MAP Growth testing in comparison to the Math Inventory? According to our Middle School and High School Math Pilot teachers, MAP Growth is very similar in test length and time to the Math Inventory.
