Graphic Organizer - Frayer Model: Topic 6 develops an understanding of the concept area. Have students write area in the oval then work together to develop the defnition. Explain that the graphic organizer will be added to as new knowledge is gained. Make the graphic organizer into a chart or display for students to reference throughout the topic.

Strand: Weather and Climate Patterns Standard 3.1.3: Design a solution that reduces the effects of a weather-related hazard. Defne the problem, identify criteria and constraints, develop possible solutions, analyze data from testing solutions, and propose modifcations for optimizing a solution. Examples could include barriers to prevent fooding or wind-resistant roofs.
