Overview

Steps

1. Set a purpose for viewing the Anchor Media. 2. Introduce the note-taking outline. 3. Explain that the outline organizes the key ideas and supporting details of the video. 4. Direct students’ attention back to the first Roman numeral heading and read aloud the sample sentence. 5. Show the video again, pausing it after each key idea. 6. Have student pairs share Anchor Words from their notes. 7. Check for understanding of the note-taking skill by having students complete the Discuss and Write questions in the 44Book.

The Purposeful Viewing routine provides students with a scaffold to watch the Anchor Media, attend to critical content and language, and organize notes effectively.
