Secondary Literacy Guide

Timeline and Roles May and December/January prior to placement - ​ ELA and Literacy teachers administer MAP Growth assessment within the first two weeks of the testing window. - ​ At the end of the testing window, the Secondary Literacy Team will send class list recommendations based on multiple pieces of data (listed above). - ​ The school based literacy team (literacy teachers, AP over literacy, instructional coach, Sped manager, ALS coordinator) review lists and make further recommendations. Refer to entry and exit flowcharts. - ​ The administrator will deliver finalized class lists for ELD, Lit 1, and Lit 2 to counselors who will make these assignments in Skyward prior to the end of the semester/school year. August of placement year - ​ ELA and Literacy teachers administer MAP Growth assessment (including makeups) within the first 10 days of of school. - ​ The school based literacy team will meet to refine class lists based on Fall MAP data. Refer to entry and exit flow charts. - ​ The administrator will communicate any schedule changes to counselors to be made immediately.

School Based Protocols to Support Entry and Exiting of Students: ●​ Communicate class changes and updated lists to counselors ●​ Ensure that class sizes are appropriate ●​ Send form letters to parents reporting Literacy Data and class placement ●​ Communicate with students when placing into a Literacy class ●​ Lock the classes in Arena
