Preview Smart Words before reading. 3. Read the book (and listen to the audiobook). Decodable Digest 1. Read and reread the passage independently. 2. Underline boldface words and identify the pattern. 3. Read the React question.

Phase 1 & Phase 2

44 Practice Pages 1. Read the review box. 2. Identify the word part, syllable type, or spelling pattern. 3. Read the directions and examples. 4. Complete the activities.

4. Answer the React and Think. Talk. Write. questions. Look at the Reread question before rereading the book.

4. Read the passage with a partner. 5. Do a timed reading of the passage.
