Review the Phonics Focus words on the inside back cover. 2. Preview Smart Words before reading. 3. Read the book (and listen to the audiobook). 4. Answer the React and Think. Talk. Write. questions. Look at the Reread question before rereading the book. Decodable Digest 1. Read and reread the passage independently. 2. Underline boldface words and identify the pattern. 3. Read the React question. 4. Read the passage with a partner. 5. Do a timed reading of the passage. Independent reading utilizing the System 44 paperback books or digital book * students complete response logs daily **upon completion of reading selection, student takes a comprehension test
