level) the ball underhand to another student while saying their name. Explain that it’s important you remember who you toss/roll the ball to. ● Have students sit down once they’re received the ball so others know who still needs to get the ball. ● Keep passing the ball around the circle until everyone gets a chance to catch it and roll it to someone else. ● When the last student gets it, have them toss it to you and restart the game. ● Without the ball, go in the same order that you just did, saying the names and pointing towards the person you sent the ball to. ● Once you have successfully done it as a group, add the ball and see if you can get the ball around without anyone dropping it. Practice the underhand motion ● Have students practice the underhand toss, bringing their arm forward, palm up, below their waist. ● Students should take a step forward with their opposite foot as well. ● Before you begin, do a “Quick Whip” of names in case students don’t know each other. If students are successful with the game, time them and challenge them to beat that time. Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● What’s something to remember when throwing underhand? ● What was challenging in this game? ● Each student (or pair) will receive one hula hoop and spread out across the gym.
