PE/Playworks Unit Overview

3rd-5th: Kickball

Purpose

Introduce students to skills-based activities on the foundations of kickball and tennis: base running, tagging, kicking and striking. Students will be able to participate in a variety of kickball activities.

2.3: Combine movement concepts (e.g., direction, force, levels, and time) with skills as directed by the teacher. 3.3: Engage in a variety of choices during recess. 2.3: Combine movement concepts with skills in small group (3–5 students) activities and/or dance. 2.7: Recognize the types of kicks needed for different game and sport situations. 4.7: Work safely with peers and equipment in physical activity settings. 1.7: Catch a ball above the head, chest, at waist levels, and along the group using a well-developed pattern, with or without a partner. 1.9: Catch and throw a ball with accuracy in small group activities. 2.2: Use movement strategies in small game situations.
