Elementary PE Brainbooster

● Each side will get three hits to send it back over to the other team. It helps to have everyone count out loud with each hit. ● Players can only hit the ball one time before another player hits it. ● The goal of the game is to keep the ball up in the air and send it back and forth. ● If a team lets the ball touch the ground on their side, someone hits it two times in a row, or they hit it out of bounds, restart by tossing the ball to the other team. Review respect and safety in this game. ● Students must stay within their space, on their bottoms, to let others get chances of hitting the ball. Have students rotate (either front row to back row, or clockwise by one spot) so students get diverse chances to hit the ball. ● Although they are using a beach ball, remind them they are trying to hit the ball high (especially to their own teammates), using proper technique when available. ● If students aren’t safe with their feet/legs, you can just have them use their hands and arms.

Set a goal or “school record” for them to attempt to beat as a group.

Return to Home Base and ask the following: ● What led to success in that game? ● What did respect look like in this activity?

Prepare students for the next activity.

Clean Your Room!

Show How How to Play:

● Split students up into two teams and spread them out within the designated playing area on each side with a row of chairs/benches or volleyball net down the middle acting like a barrier. The goal is to have the “cleanest room”, with no balls or objects left on their side of the court. ● Evenly distribute the balls, balloons, etc. on both sides, reminding students not to touch them until you begin. ● On your “Go Word”, students will pick up the objects and practice setting or passing them over the barrier to the other side of the court, aiming at the empty spaces. ● Have students attempt to pass or set the balls back over the net, before letting them hit the ground on their side. ● After a few minutes, freeze the game and quickly reset the amount of objects on each side equally. Review how to pass and set with a volleyball. ● Make sure students try to pass or set to the empty space on the court
