Canyons Collaborative Mathematics framework specifies the critical elements of quality mathematics instruction to support teachers in the implementation of evidence-based classroom practices so that each learner succeeds in mathematics. The Collaborative Mathematics Framework promotes peer to peer collaboration through relevant, engaging, student centered experiences, leading to individual comprehension of standards. Students explore concepts first and then engage in explicit instruction. Teachers should adjust these experiences to fit students’ needs so that students can engage in meaningful mathematical discourse with their peers.
