DTL ESSENTIAL VOCABULARY
Instruction and learning experiences that either don't use technology at all or technology that is not being leveraged intentionally.
Traditional Learning
A learning environment in which technology is intentionally used to provide both teacher-centered and learner-centered learning experiences that are designed to maximize student learning and instructional time. Instruction and learning experiences are the same as blended learning, but the physical space is solely online and the instruction is adapted to fit that format. A pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions. A student-centered teaching method that uses online resources to facilitate learning without requiring students and educators be in the same place at the same time. Educators engaging all students with high expectations for shared learning goals and empowering each learner to take ownership of their strengths, needs, and interests while tailoring flexible supports to maximize student growth and competence. A technology integration framework that identifies three types of knowledge educators need to combine for successful educational technology integration - technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge. The four levels of this model represent the level at which technology is integrated into a curriculum, from substituting non-technical tools with technical ones, augmenting existing tasks with technology, modifying existing tasks with technology, to redefining tasks using technology in ways that were previously inconceivable. The ability to recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world; acting and modeling in ways that are safe, legal and ethical in online digital spaces An educational framework that promotes inclusive and equitable learning experiences by providing multiple means of representation, expression, and engagement to accommodate the diverse needs and preferences of all learners. Type of learning in which participants interact together in real time.
