• Create a “vocabulary toolbox” for students to use in each lesson. o This can be implemented in several different ways

§ The toolbox can be filled out at the beginning of each unit and then referred to at the beginning of each lesson • Tell the students which math terms they will be using that day and then have them predict what they will be doing mathematically § The toolbox can be filled out as you move throughout each lesson in the unit. Take time at the beginning of class to define the terms needed for that day; ensure that students understand each term • Utilize technology o Use graphing calculators and other interactive math software (Desmos, Derivita) to help students visualize the math • Review contextual and content specific vocabulary o Contextual vocabulary: provide a reference sheet of words that relate to the story with pictures and a few translations. Review the words/pictures during the “launch” and refer back to throughout the lesson.
